Scrapbook Layouts

I first started out as a paper scrapbooker. When I was about 12 years old my mom bought me a scrapbooking kit and I made my first album. It was full of amateur pages with articles from my high school newspaper and pictures of me and my friends. I was never satisfied with my first album because I'm a perfectionist, so I was constantly redoing it.

Eventually my stash grew and grew. When I turned 19 and met my now-husband, I started taking more of an interest in scrapbooking. I got pregnant, had my son, and in my spare time I would scrapbook pictures of our wedding, pictures of my son, and things like that. But I found it increasingly harder as he got older to find time to pull out all the stuff and finish pages.

In 2008 as I was surfing the Internet for scrapbooking supplies online, I found a store called A Cherry On Top. I joined their forums, made a few (fairweather) friends, and I download a few digital "freebies" for digital scrapbooking. I decided to try it out and made my first page. I think from then on, I was hooked. I didn't really start getting into it until I found K-Joi Studios and joined not only their creative team, but Inspired By Dominic Designs creative team as well.

About two years later and I've switched entirely from paper scrapbooking to digital scrapbooking. It's much easier, cleaner, safer for my son (no scissors or sharp instruments), takes up less space (well in the house anyway), and it's much cheaper. Not to mention, it's economical and "green" - it doesn't require a tree to make a digital paper, only a little creativity. I have yet to get rid of my paper scrapbooking stash but I hope to take that step this summer. I will still keep some things around, because I'm interested in taking the step to hybrid. Also I still love to make mini books, chipboard books, home decorations, etc. I definitely will not be throwing out my paper layouts because they are still treasures to me - but I hope to see many more digital layouts printed in my books now.
